Tour Guide Tuesday: Nashville Restaurant Week

Nashville Restaurant Week is sponsored by Nashville Originals, a group of local restauranters committed to promoting and preserving the staple restaurants that make our city great.  Twice a year, about 50 local restaurants present a price fixe menu to the community encouraging Nashvillians to try new places and support our local economy.  With most three course menus starting at $20.12, even some $20.12 for two, the deals are abundant.

My favorite Nashville Original find has been Germantown Cafe.  I had the Coconut Curry Salmon and not one crumb was left on my plate!  Not only does it have a great view of downtown, but it is also in the charming original suburb of Nashville, Germantown.  They recentally opened a second location in East Nashville at 5th and Main.  There are so many great restaurants in town, I often forget about several of the local restaurants tucked away in our great city, so take this week to make a point to remember it's the small businesses that make Nashville so special.  So, support our local economy, grab a group of friends and enjoy a fabulous meal!

I love so many Nashville Originals, so to narrow it down to sugguestions will be a challenge, but here are a few of my favs....For a great burger with a trendy location, head to 12 south and try Burger Up  .A Franklin treasure with a creole twist is 55 South, the gumbo is as close to New Orleans as you will get!  If you haven't checked out the adorable Sylvan Park community, try out Midtown Cafe.  I am hoping to try Copper Kettle's brunch since it is in my neighborhood.

Tips for Restaurant Week:
1. Make reservations, these places book up quickly on the weekends.  If you can't score a weekend reservation, try going one night during the week.
2. Scope out the menus here 3 . It's a lot easier to take a chance on a new restaurant for $20.12, so take advantage of the specials and search out your new go-to spot for special occasions.
