DIY Wreath Class

Junior League Nashville hosted a wreath class and I'm a sucker for anything Christmas related, so I signed up ASAP.  I'm not the most crafty girl in the world, simple crafts, with easy step by step instruction are ok, but making a wreath I was afraid was a little out of my league.

We started with an easy form for the base and looped the mesh around making about 12 big loops of mesh.   Then took ribbon and tubing and entertwined it throught the mesh and attached it with the same wire from the easy form.

Here is my final product.

The whole class did GREAT, thanks to our fantastic instructor Lisa!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas,

What I'm Loving Wednesday!

I'm loving that our Thanksgiving was filled with family and food!  We got to spend time with both of our families for a Thanksgiving feast.  Here are pics of my sister, her hubby and their dog baby, then JK, me and our dog baby and finally JK with 2 baby twins from his home!

I'm loving easy sweet recipes like Oreo balls, they are always a hit!

  • 1 package Oreos
  • 1 brick cream cheese, softened (8 ounces)
  • 1 package white almond bark

1.  Crush cookies very fine either by using a food processor or by placing them in a sealed bag and crushing them with a mallet or rolling pin. Add softened cream cheese to crushed cookie mixture and mix until well blended. Scoop out and form into one inch balls and place on waxed paper until ready to dip.

***I like to pop my cookie tray in the freezer for a few minutes to let the balls harden before dipping
2.  Melt almond bark (I just use the microwave). Dip each cookie ball into almond bark and place back on waxed paper to cool completely. Store in an air tight container in the refrigerator.

I'm loving that decorations are coming up slowly but surley at home, and can't wait to share pics shortly :)

I'm loving that my beautiful friend Molly is entering her last month of pregnancy!  I can't wait to meet baby Abby!!!

I'm loving that the Memphis Grizzlies are on fire!  Since UT had a less than stellar season and the Titans are down and out, I'm thankful the Grizz are Grittin' and Grindin' away.

I'm loving that we have family tickets to see Dicken's Christmas Carol at the Historic Franklin Theatre Dec. 8th!  My fam LOVES Christmas and this will be a perfect outing to spread the Christmas cheer :)

What are you loving today?

Best Girls Weekend Ever!

It has taken me a few days to recoup enough from last weekend to write this post, but it was one for the record books!  Two of my Memphis girls, Candace and Taylor, planned a weekend getaway, to visit Nashvegas, last weekend.  I was over the moon excited for my company!

The girls drove into town after work Friday, and quickly after arriving, we headed to Patterson House for a late night cocktail in a trendy location.  We didn't have to wait too long for a table, since we didn't make it there until around 11. The drinks were fantastic!  And it was a perfect location for a chill evening of catching up.

Saturday morning, we woke up bright and early for manis, pedis, and mimosas.  I got my first Shellac manicure, and I am impressed!  Not one chip and we are 7 days in....

Then we headed to Arrington Vineyard for wine tasting and a picnic lunch.  The weather was perfect and the sun was shining for our short drive to Arrington.  We were a little disappointed that on weekends you can only taste 4 wines, but on weekdays you get 8, but we still had a blast none the less.  One thing we didn't plan for were bugs attacking our picnic lunch!  Between spiders weaving webs on our wine bottles and bees taunting Taylor, we put on quite the show for the other patrons of the vineyard.  Maybe we just like the idea of nature....not actually nature :)
Isn't Candace's picnic basket/suitcase adorable!

After resting for a bit, we headed to Taco Mamacita for dinner.  We were beat from our adventurous day, but decided to test the honky tonk waters...We started at Paradise Park, and Jason James band was rockin as usual.  It was packed, so we headed over to Tootsies.  We were a little bummed there was a line with 40+ people waiting to get in, so we checked the back door and BINGO! We got in!  To say we partied like college girls would be an understatement....The band was amazing, and we sang and danced all night.  We had so much fun we didn't even realize the time and were VERY disappointed that they had to close at 3, but don't worry, we cabbed to the condo and woke up JK to let us in and tell him all about the best night ever. (Thanks for putting up with our shenanigans babe:))

Sunday we had a family breakfast at Cracker Barrel before they hit the road, and I was sad to see them leave, but so happy with the incredible time we had!

Thanks Taylor and Candy for a great girls weekend, and ya'll are welcome anytime.  We still need to open our speakeasy for CEOs, even though careers are for poor people :)  And don't forget about fish-net night either.

Be Thankful!

What a blessing that we have this wonderful holiday to count our blessings and realize what is really important in life!

Today I am in Jackson, TN preparing Thanksgiving lunch with my family then we are heading to Paris, TN to have dinner with JK's fam.  The driving can get a little cumbersome, but instead of complaining about the drive, rather we should be thankful for having family close enough to visit and a car that will get us there.

One motto I picked up this year is,
"Change your expectation for appreciation and your world will change."
It couldn't be more accurate.

Today I am thankful for family, food, and, time off work.  Not to mention all of the other blessings that have come about throughout this year, JK passing the bar and opening his downtown firm, healthy family members, fantastic trips, and quality time spent with beautiful new and old friends.

Thankful people are happy people, so let's choose to be thankful everyday.

Happy thanksgiving to you and your families :)
