GGTS: 5 Rules to Rock a Jersey

Since football kicks off this weekend and this is my most popular google searched post, it is a perfect time to update and repost!

The big game this weekend has inspired this post...How to Rock a Jersey :)

Time and time again, I have been perplexed by the challenge of wearing a sports jersey and maintaining my feminine style.  I know sporting events are not a fashion show, but for me, it is a lot more fun when I can show my team support and rock the jersey! So here are my
5 Rules to Rock a Jersey

Rule 1:  Wear your size!

Jerseys have come a long way, no longer must you throw on your man's XXL uniform.  Women's feminine cuts and kids sizes are better options when choosing a jersey.

Rule 2: Accessories tie it all together

Try a hair piece like Carrie for a feminine touch.  Also use accessories as an opportunity to tie in other team colors.  From jewelry to finger nail polish, the opportunities to style a jersey are endless
Rule 3: The Bottom Half must Balance the Top Half
Choose a denim skirt or white shorts for warm weather games.  When the temps prevent showing skin, opt for fitted jeans, leggings, or skinny jeans to balance out the loose jersey.
Rule 4: Style from Head to Toe

Boot options these days are endless.  Go for a flat boot for comfort and style to polish off your game day attire.  Sandals are great for warm days too!
Rule 5: Hair and Makeup are Key
Hair, make-up and outfit, that is the trifecta of appearance.  Don't go overboard, but a dab of lip gloss, pinch of mascara, and five minutes with a curling iron can do wonders.

On another note, here are a few of my favorite sites for game day shopping:

Tour Guide Tuesday: East Nashville Favs Part 2

Favorite Burger: Pharmacy

Nashville's best burger by a landslide!  Try the farm burger or my favorite, the mission city burger.  And don't forget the creamsicle!  The outdoor area is beautiful and perfect for an afternoon catching up with friends over a craft beer.
Favorite Park:  Shelby
The dogs love this park!  Complete with trails, tennis courts, playground, ponds, and a dog park, this park is a hidden treat on the east side.  I'm looking forward to seeing the trees in the fall in just a few weeks.

Favorite BBQ: Edley's East

I've said it once, and I will say it again, Edley's is amazing!  I'm currently loving the turkey sandwich pictured above.  The original restaurant is in 12 South, but they were quickly welcomed to the east side for the 2nd location.

Favorite Brewery: Fat Bottom
Microbrews are popping up all over music city.  Fat Bottom has a tap room and a great outdoor area to chill.  Complete with a cornhole setup and the young crowd, on Thursday nights, this is the place to be.

Favorite Planned Restaurant: Treehouse

This new hot spot is under construction in the heart of Five Points.  The entrepreneur of this venture actually grew up in the house being converted into The Treehouse.  Planning on being a small venue, this restaurant will be another featuring a fresh local inspired menu.

Five on Friday!

1. This is such an exciting time in my little world! 2 of my besties are engaged!!! And one of my beautiful friends has a bun in the oven :)  I could not be more ecstatic for all of the goodness going on in my little circle.  I love you all so much!!!

2.  This weekend, JK and I are headed to St. Louis.  We are meeting up with a couple of friends from my hometown to catch a Braves game and have a little fun.  I may or may not be really looking forward to a ballpark frank ;)

3.  Anyone else shop the Lilly sale this week?  There were a lot of angry shoppers, but I wasn't one of them.  I completely forgot about the sale until around 11:00, and figured everything great probably already sold out.  Much to my surprise, I happened to look right as the site recovered from a crash cause by too-many-lilly-lovers-wanting a deal!  I scored a dress I've had my eye on for over 80% off... Thanks mom for teaching me to wait for sales!

4.  We are officially one week away from college football kick-off!  My fam is headed to Knoxville next weekend to celebrate.  How can you not love football season?

5.  3 Albums I have on repeat on my ipod right now are...

lovin' The One That Got Away and Same Old, Same Old
can't turn off Wildfire and Dear Marie
This girl is talented!  Download Follow Your Arrow right now.
What are you listening to right now?!?
Have a great weekend, ya'll!

Family of 4, meet our new addition!

Last Saturday, at a the Tomato Arts Fest in Nashville, we fell in love :)  The Nashville Humane Society had a caravan of babies needing a good home, and we couldn't resist.
Her brother, Tucker, has been adjusting to the change, but seems to be finally getting used to his new play mate :)

Her name is still in limbo...we have tried Whiskey, Riley, Briley, Harper, no-name, and now it's Tally.  Big decision!

This is one of my favorite Nashville secrets :)  Southeastern Salvage is a large warehouse with everything from a fireplace mantle, to cabinets, to pillows, to patio furniture.  This little gem always has several pieces that are near replicas of something you would find at Pottery Barn or Restoration Hardware.  You will find this hidden gem in Berry Hill....and you will probably see me there.

9 Year Photo Recap of 8 Years Together

JK went out of town last week and I stayed in Nashville.  I was feeling a little nostalgic one night, and threw together this little montage of JK and JN :)

For those of you that have been here since the beginning, thank you for your love and support!  It has been a crazy ride of long distance, unexpected turns in the road, and twists none of us could have imagined.  With support of family and friends, our relationship is stronger than ever.  This may not be the road either of us imagined, but we appreciate the journey and embrace the faith, hope and love we have gained from our love story.

For those of you new to our world, I hope this little walk down memory lane is a fun peak into old school Justin and Julie.

NFL Bag Rules

I know this news is so 2 months ago, but since this weekend kicks off pre-season, here in Nasvhille, it's time to re-visit the new regulations on purses by the NFL.  In short, bring a gallon size plastic bag, only, and leave the diaper bag, purses and man-bags at home :)
Obviously a man created this rule because there are a few things he forgot when creating the new mandates...

1.   What if a lady that is not a NFL junkie, gets asked to a game, and she sports her favorite Kate Spade or Louis Vuitton?  The walk from parking to the stadium gate is quite the long haul, and the last thing you want to do is return your favorite bag to the car, may I suggest a bag check at the gate?

2.  Sometimes girls have personal issues that need the privacy of a clutch...heck, men have personal issues kept private by their wife's handbag!  Pivacy is appreciated by one wants to flaunt medication, creams, pop-up texts, diapers, ointments...I will stop there :)

3.  Call me crazy, but cargo pant wearers could store more in the pockets of cargos than a typical purse!  Will I be rocking cargos this year?  No thanks...

If you want to read the details, here you go.

The good news, football's back!
